Sleep and Sleep Deprivation from Pain

Your mattress and pillow can have a huge effect on how fast you fall asleep and how comfortably you stay asleep without tossing and turning. How soft or hard your mattress and if you are a back or side sleeper greatly changes what pillow you use. If you are a back sleeper, have your partner check your sleeping alignment by checking if your eyes are pointed straight up to the ceiling. If your chin is too far up, you may want a more supportive pillow or a thinner pillow if your eyes are tilting towards your feet.  Side sleepers, check if your neck and spine are aligning and your pillow is thick enough that it reduces some of the pressure on your shoulder, therefore preventing pain or reducing chronic pain.
