Apple ginger tumeric juice
I first tried this juice in Costa Rica in a small market just outside our hotel, it smells so good! I was feeling tired from the jet lag and wanted something simple to digest. A juice stand was offering this apple ginger turmeric juice and it helped me feel rejuvenated from the travel and has become a go to drink in my home. Some of the benefits come from the ginger and turmeric which are both highly anti-inflammatory and antioxidant which helps heal. Ginger is well known for helping nausea but helps soothe muscle soreness. Tumeric is relatively new and has lately been the focus of many articles, it is the same family as ginger but has curcuminoids which give the orange colour. The active ingredient is curcumin which is showing many health benefits for gastrointestinal health and inflammation response. Apples are the base of the juice and where a lot of the water and sugar comes from, a good apple which has less sugar then most others and highly available are the granny smith variety.
Juicing is a great way to get more nutrients quickly into the blood stream as it removes the fiber. Drinking a glass a day will promote healing of joints, muscles pain, and reduce headaches. Tumeric and ginger have a blood thinning effect so please consult with a doctor first if you are taking warfarin or other medication which have a similar effect.

There are multiple supplements such as AOR’s Curcumin which are highly available and are very useful as a alternative to Advil and Tylenol for pain management. Lochend clinic sells these supplements and can answer questions on a case by case basis.
