Myo-Postural treatment vs. Therapeutic Massage
Myo-Postural Treatment
Lochend Clinic through years of practice has developed Myo-Postural which is a combination of physiotherapy treatments, massage and active release. Practiced by Charles Goodhart after studying to be a RMT has been taught this technique by Lise Goodhart after her 20+ years of development. Lise found that compensation patterns caused pain and had to be addressed in a holistic manner to reverse years of pain and improper strengthening. The whole body had to be assessed and the structures like the hips and ribcage have to be released to effectively eliminate the compensation patterns. My working the Myo-Postural treatment we can level out the hips and ribcage giving space to the spine to decompress and restore ROM to all the joints.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is done in a specific area where the pain is. Massage Therapy is great when there is an acute injury and the body has not had a chance to compensate. When you get a therapeutic massage you have ability to keep the muscle tissue flexible and prove healing touch to help stimulate healing. If the problem hasn’t been resolved in a few weeks the body will adapt to a new way of movement. This engages other muscles not designed to be used for the movement and will start to change the leg length, one shoulder will elevate or rotate, and now it becomes a full body problem. It is very difficult for a local treatment to reverse compensation once it has reached this point.
